What do you mean "金融主业"? I have never seen Project Manager become a Portfolio Manager, trader etc

Same here. I've never seen an experience IT people who can land a job as a trader or Portfolio Manager.If you want to switch, you will do it like IT Project Manger > Analyst (who makes 1/3 or 1/2 of your current position) > Sr. Analyst > and hoping to become a Trader or PM.

I think what he referred as Analyst is pretty much the equity analyst or financial analyst, who is covering some sepecific industry or ticks.

A bit of support here...My Finance teacher (MBA courses) used to be IT grammer. Spent a few years in a big bank, kept advertising that he wanted to do financial analysis and did CFA. Finally he got the job to do project evaluations. IT background should help -- think about all those simulation models...

Another example...One of my MBA classmates has been an equity analyst for a few years...he got the job because of his hydro engineer background ; some of his colleagues came from Motorola,or mining companies. I am sure industry background is valued by employer.
