Normally, contractors do not charge by square foot. They estimate how big is the project, and charge accordingly. Normally, they charge 2/3 of cost as labor cost.if project is too small, they would charge more labor cost because they have to get their tools to your place. and contractors vary.

标准不标准我不太知道。我把原来不平的锯掉，这样好看些，我tried not to disturb base of driveway,and made sure the base for paver was compacted. Should not be a problem. Did google and asked some people who have done this. Try to seal the gap between the driveway and paver, as long as not too much water get in there, should not be a problem. I think should be fine.

Since you are going to park cars on your driveway, you have to dig deep enough, > 12", I would do 14-15", and make sure it is compacted.
