昨天跟班上一位上了年纪的香港同学聊, 她八年前辞掉香港中旅的工作移民来的时候, 失业率比现在高的多, 不过她有很平常的心态, 从WAITER, CASHIER做起, 换过很多工作, 既有华人也有洋人的, ACCOUNTANT,BROKER 以及经理助理都做过, 一直没觉得找工作困难. 现在她已经准备退休了, 一心一意在SENECA修读以前有兴趣却没时间学的课程, 但不久前又在CANADIAN TIRE找到一份PART TIME的核数师工作. 其实她一个大学文凭都没有, 有的只是丰富的工作经验和较高的英文水平. 我一直搞不懂, 香港人的适应能力是怎样炼成的

different situationsthey already paid off the house and cars. they just make money for
food, and gas. I knew lots of people from hongkong. They bought
house and cars after coming here. and find $7/hr job to work.
They enjoy the life. However You came from mainland china.
everything is on your own. You are going to buy house, car, raise kids.
Sadly canada is not good place to make money. Hongkongness
is not in the same level as ours.

确实. 新移民的收入在大陆已经是不错的了. 但绝对没发和香港的工资比. 人家平均月薪都能达到几万呢.

我不知道那个同学来的时候有多少钱, 但设想一下如果你自己买了房子, 还有楼下所说的那么多CASH, 会不会做洗碗, WAITER/WAITRESS之类的工作? 其实我认识的香港人当中, 有一些并不是想象中那么有钱

agree, normally people from hongkong sold their 2 bed room apartment at 2 to 3 million HK dollar and bought a house here, still 200kCAD left...

You are wrong, most HK people could not own their condo in HK until they retire. They also use mortgage to afford their condo in HK. How much could a normal HK people earn in HK? Just around 200K-400K HK$Half of their incom have to go into their mortgage.
