You could pay monthly, quarterly or annually. Usually pay annually. If you paid EI, you could get it after 900hrs. I didn’t contribute EI I don’t have experience.

若想领EI必须先要自己买，好象注册了公司就不能买EI了。

Basically, if you are self-employed, you are your own boss, and you won't have ROE. Therefore, even you pay EI yourself, you won't receive EI.

Thanks,阿吉, it's like somebody will hire you full time to work for him, pay you by check, but he does not provide you cpp, ei, health package. Is this something like 'selfemployment'?
