Well said! Accept imperfections - totally agree, but it's not easy. To be able to do that, you'll have to know what's critical and what's not, which requires you to have a big picture and a good understanding of the customers.

Imagining this “artistically decorated western style mansion, tasteful dinning table, ‘吃窝头沾大酱,烙饼卷大葱’”….. HA HA H A

我记的你写过COMMUNICATION有关的文章。COMMUNICATION的一个要点是You take reponsibility not only for what you have said, but also for what it is heard.

Reasonably good tricks, wincity. However, your article almost gave me an impression that you were planning to enjoy your current role for the rest of your life. You aren't settled to what you have, are you? :-)

"The second important thing to managing work load is that you have to be the master of your domain, not your boss." -- Good point, but you can't control that, can you?

Admit failure, communicate to stakeholders and come up with a make-up strategies. A good redress can be even better than the original plan.

excellent post. just at the point to ignore others' mistakes, I would prefer to telling the facts to boss and providing all available options as well as impacts/consequences. Let the boss make the decision.

I'm not opposed to anything. Just a few tricks in your pocket which you decide to use or not to use. Pointing out the mistakes would inevitably cost you time. Hiding it would give you a lot of flexibility:you could blame the other party later on if need to. And you could prepare quietly for the changes the other party is sure to make. When the change does come, probably after your deadline, you're almost done even though you're given 2 days to adapt. You could either use that 2 days to surf Rolia or get prepared for other things down the road.

Good points. I think these rules are suitable for a big company, in which many people from different teams work tegether and team work spirit is more important than the technical skills.

Excellent post as always!! Be a subject matter expert and act like a fool some time are key for corporation surviving. Just curious, what's your career/career goal now.
