Monnex is a broker. You have to be a part of group (associate, alumni... etc.) to get the policy. They do not deal with individual client without "membership".

如果你或者你的配偶是加拿大大学的学生，你就可以以ALUMI的身份买保险。如果不是，可以加入CAA。据我所知，MONNEX只受理GROUP INSURANCE。不过，正如楼下所说，如果你说你是学生，没人看你的学生证。但是，窃以为，诚实很重要。加入CAA也没有多少钱，为了这个撒谎就没必要了。况且，CAA有很多给会员的“福利”，还是很有用的。你可以搜索一下MILDKILLER温柔杀手的帖子。另外，以MONNEX为关键词，在ROLIA上可以搜到不少有用信息。GOOD LUCK。

Hi,懒牛，我确实持有isic/International Stendent Idendity Card，但是不是加拿大的学生，对买车保险有用吗？

这个，俺就不知道啦。俺又不是卖保险的。:p 打电话给MONNEX去问一下好了，就说你要一个QUOTA，以便和其他保险公司比较价格，就好了。

这个有推敲的余地，从我的经验看它也不核实申请人是不是真的是某团体，校友会成员，老实说它靠的还是诚信，你说什么就是什么。我是学生，上过正规驾校，按本地代表处的要求我要把我的驾校证书，正规驾照及拥车证（还有一个我记不清了〕传真到它们的传真机上才能正式受理我的投保申请，但多伦多总部根本不提这些事，全凭我自己说的当场就在电话中敲定了，在约定的时间生效，事后也无任何消息要求补充材料。

可能不同的AGENT做法不同吧。我买保险时也是学生，倒是没有核实这个身份。但我的车是在DEALER手里买的，DEALER把我的驾照、OWNERSHIP、全科证书给FAX过去的。还做了个什么检查、给车拍了照。

也许与保额有关，我的是二手车，所以只保了第三方责任一百万〖Section A＝995】；事故补偿〖Section B＝70】；最后是对无保险车的保障（如被擦撞后溜了〕〖Section D＝10】；共1075＄本来如我花18＄投保住家保险20000可获55＄的减价，但我觉得对租的房间投保毫无必要，所以我没要。我是没看出来我的保费有何优惠，因为这几项是强制的，新老司机差在何处？能差多少？最能说明不同保费的是丢失和损坏〖】，不同的车；新车旧车；带不带防盗装置；自己预付多少；几停车区域的治安状况均能影响保费。

But when I called them to consult the insurance policy, I was told that I had to belong to some group, say, Alumi of xx university. Otherwise, they could not offer me any insurance policy.But I do agree that in Canada, many things are just individual cases. Difference agents have different answer. That happens all the time.

I will call for a quote. I am planning to buy a car...the 1st time...and not sure how to set insurance before the purchase. I may find out from the insurance company, but if anybody knows, please advice. Thanks.

Another question: which insurance companies Monnex represents? Will it be cheaper if I skip Monnex and buy from any of the companies directly???
