It is common practice in this field. Cashier is not a job everyone can do. The employer likes to see your potential to be trained. Learn as fast as good as you can in these 3 days.

It is cash business and heavily relies on customer service. From employer's point of view, a qualified cashier shall behonest, accurate to keep your book and cash balanced after each shift, good memory on prices, treating customers with smile, and good language skills too. The employer will not accept you until he/she is satisfied that at least you have potential on all those aspects.
