Thanks for peterham's and whitegreen's replies. It seems that coop is for students. Unfortunately I am not a student. But if there is any volunteer chances in the IT company, I also hope to do it.Please give me the information if anyone knows anything about it.

If the total working hour for your co-op job is more than 900 hours, sure you can. Before this, check your pay stub to make sure your employer deducted EI fee from your every pay.

But I am in USAThe co-op job just like contractor. Pay by hour. There is no any welfare.

据我所知(可能不对),如果没有美国绿卡, 是没有权利领取EI的, 尽管领薪水时要扣掉. 何不到政府网站去查一下?
