7 CLEARANCES TO COMBUSTIBLE MATERIAL
The clearances shown in this section have been determined by test according to procedures set out in
safety standards ULC S610 (Canada) and UL127 (U.S.A.). When the fireplace is installed so that its surfaces are at or beyond the minimum clearances specified, combustible surfaces will not overheat under normal and even abnormal operating conditions.
No part of the fireplace may be located closer to combustibles than the minimum clearance figures given.
The following clearances meet the minimum requirements for a safe installation.
Side wall: 16" (41 cm) measured from the inside door frame.
Side mantle: 12" minimum (6" maximum of protrusion) measured from the inside door frame.
Wall in front of fireplace: 48"
Ceiling: 84 in. (2.13 m) measured from the base of the fireplace.
Fireplace enclosure:
Back wall: 0"
Sides: 0"
Floor (under the fireplace): 0"
Chimney: 2" (50 mm)
