My name is XXXX, I'm skilled in XXXXXXXXX, have XXX years of experience in XXXXXXXX, do you have position for person like me?

good luck.

    • But it increases your chance to land a job. For those failed contacts treat them as language practices. You will get better and better after each call. Try to find some ways to outsmart those receptionists.
      • Thanks for your encouragement. When the receiptionist says they don't have openings, they really don't have it, right? in this case, I don't have to insist to have my call transfered to a technical manager, right?
        • Not really. The manager is the one who knows whom, when they need. The key of cold call is to find that manager in charge and then contact that person directly thereafter.
At your first call, you can say: "I would like to send my resume through fax. Could you please tell me to whom should I write attention?". This is one way to get around receptionist.

Follow up call is equally important. "Hello Ms. xxx, my name is yyy, I sent my resume 2 weeks ago, just like to follow up with you to see if you've had a chance to take a look at it?"

Don't believe the receptionist. She just wants to get you off her face. The manager's word is final.
          • thank you very much for your clear answer. I am going to give it a try. If I felt pissed off, I would come to rolia and yell at anybody jump on my face (kidding)
          • looks to me you know it inside out, buddy.
          • It worked for me though.
            • but you started up your own biz?
              • ? How did you know me?
