Bored holes in studs and vertical framing members for wiring shall be located 1.25 inches from the edge or shall be protected with a minimum 0.0625-inch steel plate or sleeve or other physical protection.Bored holes in joists, rafters, beams and other horizontal framing members shall be 2 inches from the edge of the structural framing member. The hole size normally is 3/4".

A receptacle must be within 2 feet of the end of the sink.
The code also requires all kitchen outlets for countertop use to be 20 Amp GFCI protected.
GFCI outlets must be installed in any area where electricity and water may come into contact,
including basements(??? may be only in “patient care areas”), pools, spas, utility rooms, and outdoors.
At least one GFCI protected outlet is required in each bathroom and all outdoor outlets.

The code does not require a separate circuit for bathroom receptacles. Bathroom receptacles can be supplied by a general purpose circuit that supplies other general purpose receptacle and lighting outlets. Multiple bath and washrooms are permitted to be supplied by the same circuit. Rule 8-304.In bathrooms where heavy loads such as hair dryers may be used it is recommended not to combine multiple bathrooms on the same circuit.

Does the Code permit a light fixture to be installed in a shower? Yes, as long as the fixture is approved for wet locations. Rule 30-318. Ontario Electrical Safety Code 25th Edition/2012.
Does the Code require GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupter) protection of a light fixture located in a residential tub / shower enclosure?No, the Code does not require GFCI protection, however if the fixture manufacturer's installation instructions require GFCI protection, then the Code requires that the instructions be followed. Rule 2-034. Ontario Electrical Safety Code 25th Edition/2012.

Smoke Detector Code
Smoke alarms are required in sleeping rooms and adjacent areas.
Smoke alarms need to be wired in series so the activation of one sets the others off.
Smoke alarms must have electric power from the building and a battery back up if the power goes off.
