There are two purposes to hire an accountant: one is to minimize the amount tax you have to pay and maximize the benefit you can get; second purpose is to protect yourself in case CCRA demand a tax review on your past business activities.
If your financial statements were signed by a certified accountant, that accountant will have the responsibility to explain to CCRA during the review. That is why they insist to audit your daily business activities if you ask them to do financial statements for you at the year end.
If you have already done bookkeeping and financial statements yourself, you might as well just file the tax return yourself unless it is required by the law that it has to be done by a certified accountant. Check with CCRA, see what they have to say about that.
If you only registered a personal company, you do not need financial statements, only need to fill out a form called Statement of Business Activities and attach that to you personal tax return. If it is a limited company, an accountant may do the financial statements for you without auditing. Normally, they will refuse to sign it and claim no responsibility afterward.
For a small business, a financial statement alone may cost $500-$600, no signature. A full service accountant normally charge $1000-$3000 per year for everything, including bookkeeping, preparing and signing the financial statements.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
