FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Prevention, prevention, prevention !!!
Always easier, healthier, cheaper and wiser. With regular teeth cleaning you can prevent gum disease (the leading cause of tooth loss), tooth loss (the affected teeth may loosen and eventually fall out),bad breath, decline of overall health.

No complications
Anesthesia can have unpredictable effects on individual animals, which is why whoever is implementing the anesthesia must monitor patients' vital signs at all times. Some animals might experience swelling at the injection point or even a reduction in heart action. By removing the anesthesia, we remove the risk of such complications.

No post-procedure recovery
Anesthesia inevitably takes some time to wear off, and the amount of time can vary according to the dosage, the drugs used and the animal's overall health. Anesthesia free teeth cleaning means that when we are done, so are you and your pet.

No issues with pre-existing conditions
Some pets simply are not robust enough to undergo anesthesia safely. If your pet has chronic organ disease or hypertension, for instance, they should not receive these drugs. Certain breeds are also more susceptible to complications than others. Anesthesia free teeth cleaning is equally safe for all pets.

Do you clean under the gum tissue?
No, this is only available through your Veterinarian. Cleaning underneath the gums must be done with sedation and antibiotics because there's bleeding and it would be very painful for your pet. We work on animals that do not need to have this done. We thoroughly scale each tooth from the gum line down and remove all build-up before it moves underneath the gum tissue.

Won't my dog or cat panic when you attempt to use scaler on their teeth?
Absolutely not. We work one-on-one with your pet to gain their trust and are very patient with them. The tools are slowly introduced and once your pet knows that they will not be hurt, almost every dog and cat will allow us to continue with their cleaning.

Are dogs and cats that are older or have health issues candidates for anesthetic-free teeth cleaning?
Yes! As long as there are no serious problems in the animal's mouth that would inhibit us from doing the cleaning. Sedation-free cleanings are a wonderful alternative for older pets, or ones with heart, kidney, liver or respiratory issues who cannot handle general anesthesia.

Can you perform cleanings on every dog and cat that comes in?
No, there are some dogs and cats who are not candidates for our services. These pets usually have issues in their mouth such as Periodontal Disease, severe gingivitis, fractured teeth or needed extractions. Our Specialists are aware of our limitations and can easily recognize these issues in your pet and will discuss with you what is best for your pet.

Fearful or aggressive animal?
We can usually tell within the first few minutes of the consultation whether your pet's temperament will allow for a cleaning. In almost all cases we are able to calm fearful pets with our gentle touch and calm energy. If your pet demonstrates highly aggressive behavior, they are not a candidate for anesthetic-free cleanings.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
