This letter is to inform you of the latest change regarding
the agreement for the Home and Automobile Insurance Program
entered into between the Federation of Chinese Students and
Professionals in Canada (FCSPC) and Monnex Insurance
Brokerage Limited. As per our discussion with Monnex Deputy
Chairman of Affinity Market, Mr. Chris Daniel, due to our
group's high loss ratio 125% and high accident rate 41%
(Monnex's group average is 84% and 21%), Monnex will
increase our group rate by 15% on auto insurance and 17.5%
on home insurance, effective February 12, 2002. Both new
application and renewal policy will be equally affected
after the above date. However, any application filed before
this date will not be affected so that the current group
rate still applies.
Due to this significant increase in the group rate, the
advantage of maintaining this group program with Monnex
fades away. That way, FCSPC decided not to renew the
contract with Monnex after February 12, 2002. Instead, we
will look for another carrier for a competitive auto and
home insurance program going forward.
Led by our fundraising committee chair, Mr. Steven Li, our
executive team has approached a few insurance companies,
and has received very positive responses so far.
We will keep you posted with the latest progress of the
new program.
Meanwhile, I would encourage you to look for a new
insurance company for a better policy and service before
we partner with the competitive carrier.
On behalf of FCSPC, I appreciate your great support to our
Federation during the past year, and look forward to
continuing to provide better service to you.
Best regards,
Weidong Pei
