本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛I've never thought a reading could be that painful, it's like back to gym after a few years absence. Every nerve's sour. Maybe it's just because the subject is too odd to me, to me I mean, feel free to show your disagreement.
Egret, it is marked 5 stars on amazon, I usually trust amazon's remarks. I bought it together with Irwin Shaw's short collection, more concisely I was just trying to add up the amount to be eligible for the free delivery. Egret was the 1st 5 star recommendation. Irwin Shaw is great, Egret made me regret.
So far Egret was the second painful reading I experienced, the Unbearable Lightness of Being was the most but it rewarded back heavily upon finishing of reading the book, I doubt Egret will replicate the same experience. It was a shock when I read through the back of the book, funny though, "Egret; Fiction; Lesbian Fiction" what the heck! The beginning of reading was ok, trying to explain something and telling the aweful truth of struggling for success in NYC, but the main storyline was somewhat draged and sagged. It was ploting to be a contemporary fairy tale of lesbian love I guess, but failed in certain degree. I'm deciding to continue or not, after read through 80 percent, looks like hopeless.
Overall the writing is smooth, the plot was good, the implementation was bad, story was too straight forward and too many charaters hang around to distract your attention, need a list to get it clear who's whom. Recommended for insomnia patience.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
