In the US, can a person's security clearance be affected by things done by members of their family?
While serving in the U. S. Army in Germany back in the 1970s, one of my co-workers met and fell in love with a girl whose father was in the U.S. Army and whose mother was from what was then West Germany.
They got married - and he lost his security clearance. It turned out that his new wife’s mother had a cousin who she had never spoken of to her husband or her daughter who lived in Communist East Germany.
