if you make more than 100/week,they will hold your ei until you finish your contract job(should be indendent contract ,check HRDC for detail ).

Once you finish your job so you could reactive your application,however, there is only one year window your can get from your initial application (which is right now). That means if you do a year-long contract, your will lose all your benefit, otherwise, you may miss a part of time period= your entitled time- (1 year- your contract period) .

If it is not indentpent , you should measure it using HRDC booklet called "employed or self-employed") , if it is not sure so called "contract emploee" ,the employer will pay and deduct your EI from your payment, no EI at all.
