One of my friends used to be a doctor in China. The following process is what I know from him(BTW, he want to be a doctor in USA. However I think it's almost the same process in CA):

1. Passed the Level one exam(I don't know the name). He spent almost one and a half years to prepare this exam, and got a very high score.
2. Passed the Level two exam(I don't know the name either). He spent ove half a year to prepare. And he got a high score as well.
3. Take an Toelf exam. The score is at least 550.(He just took the exam).
4. Have an interview in the interview centre in USA if your Toelf score is over 550. (I suppose that there are only two interview centre for this kind of career in USA.)
5. Apply for a resident doctor program. You have to be a resident doctor before you become a licensed doctor. Usually, it will take you around 3 or 4 years to finish the resident doctor program. However you still can get a good pay during the program.

I know his elder sister took three years to become a resident doctor. It is not easy but not as difficult as many people think to become a doctor.

      我原来实验室一个同事，来自内蒙医学院，十一二年前来的，来了之后就读了妇产科的硕士，硕士期间考到了licence，可始终连intern都找不到，只好一直做技术员一直到现在。她本人说是歧视，我猜不完全这样，因为光我知道的从大陆来的最终做成医生的就有4个。所以最终能否成功，看自己的能力、努力加运气。详细的资料最好多去泡Canadian Medical Association这个网页，加拿大凡是和健康有关的专业职业都有自己的协会。

      • Mostly right. But Canada is different from USA. In Ontario, foreign doctors, including the ones from USA and other Canadian provinces, have less chance to get licensed in Ontario because -1499728inc(bank); 2003-2-21 {145} (#1054760@0)
        Ontario graduates have priority to enter into residence program and get licensed. Most of Chinese MDs ended up as lab technician here in Ontario.
